IP Legal Operations for the IP Novice

Thursday, June 29, 2023
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM (EDT)

Legal operations professionals will receive a primer on managing their organization's Intellectual Property, be it patents, trademarks, IP litigation, trade secrets or any IP-adjacent matters. The panelists will discuss how IP legal operations differs from managing other types of matters, but can easily be understood by the legal operations professional who is familiar with the CLOC Core 12.

The program will begin with a brief overview of the different types of IP, including a cheat sheet for understanding IP terms, and how IP legal matters differ from other types of work your legal department may handle. The panelists will then introduce the CLOC IP Proficiencies matrix, along with highlights of the people, process, and technology components of IP legal operations that everyone should know. At the end of the program, the participants will be able to "speak IP" so that they're comfortable interacting with procurement, marketing, licensing, and finance within their organization. We'll even help everyone learn how to talk to inventors and IP lawyers!
